And . . . scene!
If you were writing a story with a character named Hoffmann who was always late to important social events, you could have another character joke, "Oh yeah—E.T.A. Hoffmann."
"As in the story writer?" another character could respond, incredulous.
"Nah—as in 'Estimated Time of Arrival'!"

Is it true that fantasy author George R.R. Martin used to work as a conductor?
about as true as it is that P. D. James was, at one time, an officer of the law.
Or that H.P. Lovecraft liked to "hit the sauce"!

A. L. Kennedy roots for the Mets, I am told. (A NATIONAL LEAGUE team?!)

Well... high honors or not, Thomas Stearns Eliot, admittedly a bit nervous, may simply have been reacting to his nomenclatorial connection to TENSILE STRENGTH.
H.L. Mencken certainly did love the high life!
I know that doesn't count...ummm. A.J.A. Symonds was a big Steely Dan fan?
No...
X.J. Kennedy is...extra jealous?!
Edlz! You're back!
I hope X. J. isn't extra jealous.
